GiveMN partnered with Beehive to amplify the 16th annual Give to the Max Day during a critical time for the sector. Nationally, nonprofits and schools were grappling with decreased giving, increased need and a highly polarized election cycle. Despite these challenges, the statewide giving holiday united Minnesotans in support of their communities by encouraging donors to give for good.

Together, we rallied donors, organizations and media outlets to raise awareness and inspire momentum for the annual event. The outcome was record-breaking — raising $37.1 million for 6,556 organizations across Minnesota — smashing the previous record by $2.7 million.

Our Approach

  • Developed unified communication campaign: “Give for Good” messaging was leveraged across all channels to inspire and unite Minnesotans with a clear call to action
  • Strategically engaged media: Conducted wide-spread outreach across Minnesota to amplify Give to the Max Day in the wake of the election
  • Elevated impact stories: Placed inspiring stories from nonprofits statewide, including regional champions and feel-good narratives, to raise awareness and inspire giving
  • Amplified storytelling: Curated and distributed a wide array of visuals and assets, including events, creative assets, lighting local landmarks green and localized talking points
  • Highlighted community impact and sector support: Showcased how generosity fuels positive change in different communities through bylines, interviews and local features

Results

Give to the Max Day 2024 set a donation record, raising $37.1 million for 6,556 nonprofits and schools across Minnesota. Media results included:

  • 30 interviews with media outlets in Twin Cities metro and all over the state of Minnesota
  • Coverage in 39 Minnesota markets and 125 national markets, including Star Tribune, Pioneer Press, MPR and all major local broadcast stations
  • 1,871 media mentions with 779,776,599 impressions
  • Op-ed by Jake Blumberg in MinnPost
  • Extensive press release pick up across Minnesota and beyond
  • The Good News Network, a key outlet of inspiration in the development of the Give for Good campaign, shared the success of Give to the Max Day on its platform
