National data showed that similar programs nationwide were experiencing enrollment decline while majors like Computer Science and Bio-Medical Engineering were growing. The University of Minnesota’s program was following that trend.

- Survey current and potential CEGE students to understand key drivers when selecting a major.
- Develop a focused, compelling story for CEGE to elevate and differentiate the department with prospective students and their families.
- Identify and engage key influencers – including academic advisors, student ambassadors and corporate partners – in telling the new CEGE story.
- Update and activate digital communication channels including the department website and social media channels to tell a compelling and consistent CEGE story.

Program enrollment increased 40% after one academic year of implementation.
