The Civil, Environmental and Geo-Engineering (CEGE) program in the University of Minnesota’s College of Science and Engineering prepares students for real world careers designing and protecting our infrastructure, environment, water and earth resources.

National data showed that similar programs nationwide were experience enrollment decline while majors like Computer Science and Bio-Medical Engineering were growing. The University of Minnesota’s program was following that trend.

CEGE partnered with Beehive to better define their story, drive interest and grow enrollment year over year.

Strategies

  • Survey current and potential CEGE students to understand key drivers when selecting a major.
  • Develop a focused, compelling story for CEGE to elevate and differentiate the department with prospective students and their families.
  • Identify and engage key influencers – including academic advisors, student ambassadors and corporate partners – in telling the new CEGE story.
  • Update and activate digital communication channels including the department website and social media channels to tell a compelling and consistent CEGE story.

Program enrollment increased 40% after on academic year of implementation.
