St. Paul, Minn., Oct. 27, 2026 — Nicki Gibbs, president of Beehive Strategic Communication, recently shared insights on succession planning for women business owners in an article published by Bizwomen, an American City Business Journals publication.

Drawing on Beehive’s multiyear leadership and ownership transition, Gibbs outlines three steps women business owners can take today to prepare for the future, whether planning an exit or considering what’s next.

“A year of transition planning can’t replace years of real leadership experience and a culture of shared responsibility. Start by identifying one significant responsibility — such as a key client relationship, an operational decision or a strategic initiative — that someone else can begin to own over the next six months.”

Gibbs became president and one of three new owners of Beehive earlier this year, following a gradual transition led by founder Lisa Hannum. Gibbs highlights how the experience created opportunities for Beehive’s all-women leadership team to grow while preserving the agency’s people-centered culture.
